Competency through continual training is integral to the development of a safe and multi-skilled workforce. That is why it is core to our performance standards.
We measure competency against Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) wherever possible. By adopting the award of nationally-recognised qualifications, we are acknowledging the achievements of our workforce: one that can in turn demonstrate its competence in a global market.
Our award scheme is accredited to a national educational establishment level by the Scottish Qualifications Authority group, a customised award scheme developed by us and validated by the SQA.
Our competency management system is also OPITO-approved and subjected to periodic OPITO audits.
