Lifeboats & Davits

We have developed a series of ISO 9001:2008 inspection procedures for lifeboats, FRCs, lifeboat release and retrieval systems, davits and winches:

  • internal and external condition inspections
  • battery charging, electrical and lighting systems
  • engine, gearbox, drive train, propeller and rudder inspections
  • oil and fuel filter changes
  • lifeboat release and retrieval systems inspections and function tests (including cam tolerances and wear analysis)
  • SOLAS consumable inspections for correct quantities, condition and expiry dates
  • inspection of davits, sheaves and fall wires for wear and corrosion
  • inspection of winch brakes and critical measurements
  • rate of descent and retrieval compliance with SOLAS requirements.

Safelaunch

Safelaunch® is an offload / onload lifeboat release and retrieval system designed and manufactured by Survival Craft to eliminate the common operating problems associated with other release mechanisms.

Fatalities occur every year as a result of old and poorly-designed release mechanisms. Safelaunch® represents a major step forward in functionality and safety, and greatly reduces the potential for injuries and fatalities resulting from operational failure or incorrect use of release systems.

Safelaunch® meets the latest requirements of SOLAS, IMO and LSA codes and is approved by DNV in accordance with the EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED).

Safelaunch® can be installed in new lifeboats or retrofitted to old lifeboats as a class approved upgrade.
