First OE for marine safety specialist Survival Craft Inspectorate

Global marine safety specialist Survival Craft Inspectorate is exhibiting at Offshore Europe for the first time in response to growing interest from the offshore energy sector.

On show will be the SC85FA one of the company's new lifeboats which has been built to meet the HSE ‘Big Persons’ requirements, as well as the latest version of Survival Craft's Safelaunch lifeboat and retrieval system which was earlier this year awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Among the new Safelaunch features is the introduction of a secondary safety lock mechanism incorporating a safety lock, safety lock guide plate, safety lock back plate and a new locking/maintenance pin.

The secondary safety lock allows both the release hook and release cam (locking pin) to be locked during training & drills

The SC85 FA lifeboat is of particular interest to the global offshore energy market because it meets the new Big Persons requirements for lifeboats of being able to carry persons up to 98kg.

Managing Director Angus Campbell said:

"This has been a very successful year for survival craft and we are looking forward to showcasing our new Safelaunch and ‘Big Persons’ lifeboat at the show next month”

Survival Craft has its global headquarters at Findon Shore, Aberdeen, and further bases in Norway, Western Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the US. A new base opened in Great Yarmouth earlier this year to serve the Southern North Sea energy sector.
